LINEAPIU’ ITALIA 2020-25 | Our commitment to the environment
The approach of Lineapiù Italia to sustainability goes beyond the hype of the moment with a long-term vision that is aimed at maintaining an equilibrium between the environment and beauty.
By 2025, our goal is to use raw materials originating only from sustainable, recycled, organic and certified sources.
We have the good fortune to have our headquarters, laboratories and production facilities all located in Tuscany, right outside of Florence, with nature and beauty an integral part of our day-to-day routine. We are committed to ensuring those who come after us will have a better world to inherit than the one we found.
Traceability and raw materials
In the selection of raw materials, we work with suppliers capable of guaranteeing maximum qualitative standards, which we verify by constantly monitoring analyses done by accredited laboratories.
As far as fibers of animal origins are concerned, we constantly monitor the levels of chemical substance content (in accordance with ZDHC protocols), ensuring our suppliers comply with the standards and protocols required to ensure the well-being of animals.
As far as raw materials of cellulosic origins are concerned, Lineapiù Italia purchases FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified viscose coming from sustainably managed forests, for 80% of its yarns, with the intent of arriving at 100% by 2022.
In synthetic raw materials, every season we strive to increase the percentage of yarns containing fiber of recycled and certified origins in accordance with the GRS (Global Recycle Standard).
The entire chain of command for monitoring and qualifying suppliers complies with the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) protocol, which strictly controls the use of chemicals with the aim of creating a supplier rating system and reducing the presence of chemical substances throughout the entire production process.
We have set into motion the process for completely removing the presence of all plastics from our company. A mission that will lead us to eliminate one million plastic bags used to protect the spools of yarn and around 350,000 bags for packaging.
By 2020, they will be substituted by compostable and bio-based alternatives.
A responsible use of paper
In our packaging we use only Forest Stewardship Council certified paper that guarantees responsible forest management practices and the traceability of the resulting products.
The boxes with which the spools of yarns are shipped, in addition to being Made in Italy, are post-consumer, or rather contain 45% recycled fibers with the remaining part in virgin cellulose, while ecologically-friendly treatments make them completely recyclable and biodegradable.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council): the viscose fiber destined for Lineapiù yarns is FSC-certified and comes from sustainably managed forests, with strict control over the chain of custody and on the mass balance between incoming materials and outgoing finished products.
GRS (Global Recycle Standard): in the Filclass and Lineapiù Knit Art collections are numerous items containing Pre-Consumer cotton (coming from yarn scraps originating in production) and recycled, GRS-certified Post-Consumer Polyester (coming from garments or plastic material both destined for disposal).
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): GOTS was developed by leading international organizations in agriculture and organic farming to ensure the consumer is provided with organic textile products obtained in compliance with strict environmental and social criteria applied at all levels of the production, from the harvesting of natural fibers to the subsequent manufacturing phases, up to labelling of the finished product.
